What an AI app can do: see when each of your computers last backed up and anything that needs attention, start a backup, and say which backups hold a file you name.
What it cannot do: read, restore or delete your files. Getting a file back stays in Copy Shelter, under Find a File.
On each Mac, Windows or Linux computer you want to reach, open Copy Shelter, sign in with your Pro account, and turn on Use Copy Shelter in AI apps in Settings. That computer then answers while Copy Shelter is open or running in the background.
Every app uses the same address:
https://licences.copyshelter.com/mcp
The first time, your AI app opens a Copy Shelter sign-in page. Type your email address, then the six digit code that arrives, and choose Allow.
Open Settings, then Apps and Connectors, and add a connector with the address above.
Open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and paste the address above.
Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml, then start Codex again:
[mcp_servers.copy-shelter]
url = "https://licences.copyshelter.com/mcp"
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "copy-shelter": { "url": "https://licences.copyshelter.com/mcp" } } }
Turn off Use Copy Shelter in AI apps in Settings, or sign out of Copy Shelter, and that computer stops answering at once. Removing Copy Shelter from your AI app ends its sign-in too.
