Pricing questions

What do I get without paying?

One backup location, unlimited files, and a full restore of your newest backup. Encryption and the read-back check are in Free too.

Free has no time limit. You can use it as long as you like before deciding on Pro.

Which plan should I pick?

Signing up now costs $29.99 a year, the lowest price here, and renews at that price each year. If you want a week to try Pro first, the yearly plan with a free first week is $39.99 a year after the seven days. Lifetime is one $79.99 payment with no renewal. Monthly is $4.99 a month and you can stop any month.

What does lifetime actually cover?

This major version, on every platform, on up to 10 of your own devices, with no renewal and no expiry. If a later major version arrives it is a separate purchase, and the one you paid for keeps working exactly as it does today.

What happens if my license lapses?

Nothing is deleted. Backups you already have stay exactly where they are, no old version is ever removed because you stopped paying, and your newest backup still restores.

Browsing older versions goes back to being a Pro feature, and it unlocks again for anybody the moment the newest backup cannot deliver. Your newest backup restores on Free.

Can I cancel?

Any time, by yourself, without emailing us. The receipt we email you carries the link to your billing page, where you can cancel, restart, change your card or download an invoice.

You keep Pro until the period you have already paid for runs out.

Can I get a refund?

Write to [email protected] within 30 days and we will refund you, with no explanation needed. Full detail in the terms.

How do I sign in?

With your email address. Open Copy Shelter, choose Sign In, give the address, and a six digit code arrives in that mailbox. Type it back to sign in. If you purchased Pro, use the address you purchased with and Pro turns on.

There is no license key. Sign in with the same address on each of your devices. Codes expire after 15 minutes and can only be used once.

Why are the prices in my currency?

Because Stripe charges those figures. The amounts on this page are read from the live prices, so a figure only appears here if it is what checkout would actually take. Change the selector at the top and the page changes with it, before you go anywhere near a payment form.

Is there a discount for more than one device?

A Pro license covers every platform Copy Shelter runs on, up to 10 devices, so a Mac, a phone and a PC together cost nothing extra. If you want Copy Shelter on machines your company owns, email [email protected] and tell us roughly how many, and we will come back with a price.

Which macOS versions?

Built for macOS 14 and later, Apple silicon. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning.
